Balbo Finale

As much as the tail chase sequences within the flying display have become famous so too has the Balbo Finale
This years featured 24 of the participants, which all launched within minutes of each other some from the grass and the other heavier types from the tarmac runway.
The aircraft flew off in the direction of Royston to begin forming up before turning back towards Duxford and flying parallel to the airfield but some 2-3 miles in the distance, whilst all this was happening Stephen Gray's Bearcat kept the audience entertained before departing high and behind the crowd for the return of the massive formation. Once again from the position I was shooting from the photography seemed less important than just savoring the sight, sound and smells before my eyes.
The formation did two complete flypasts before splitting up and landing with some of the elements performing another couple of flypasts before everyone was safely back on the ground.
So that was Flying Legends over and complete for another year and as I said I am totally hooked. Hopefully some of the larger aircraft from previous years can be restored to the flying displays, as I have mentioned elsewhere if it wasn't for the German and French registered aircraft participation at this years event the skies would have been far emptier
Thanks for taking the time to view the images and read my ramblings.
